In 2022, NESFAS launched the ‘Linking Schools to Agrobiodiversity for Improved Diets, Nutrition and Livelihoods’ across 11 schools in Meghalaya.
The project is funded by a partner of the Schools Meals Coalition: TIP and IPFS Coalition.
Building on India’s PM POSHAN (previously known as MDM scheme) by partnering up with IP’ communities and schools to co-develop sustainable solutions to enhance the quality of school meals. The results were remarkable, there was a significant increase in the inclusion of green leafy vegetables (59%) and legumes (43%) in school meals. Plates that previously had a dull look, now feature a vibrant colourful mix of a variety of ingredients.
