• Position: Adviser, Zoology (1 post)

    • Qualification: MSc/PhD in Zoology, with specialization in ecology or conservation biology, with at least 3 years of experience in any project assignment.
    • Salary: 40,000

    • Main Task and responsibilities:
      • Work in close coordination with the Biodiversity Management Committee (BMC) at the village level.
      • Facilitating the development of training modules and capacity building for local researchers and community facilitators.
      • Connecting with local educational institutions, research institutes etc. for the purpose of the project.
      • Support the local researchers in the data collection.
      • Analysis and validation of data with the technical support group and Biodiversity Management Committee (BMC).
      • Prepare the People‘s Biodiversity Registers (PBRs).
      • Facilitation for the computerization of information and resources.
      • Prepare a detailed project report to the funder with lessons learnt

About the Project:

NESFAS in collaboration with The Nature Conservancy (TNC), USA, is facilitating the Biodiversity Management Committees (BMCs) in upgrading the People‘s Biodiversity Registers (PBRs) (meeting all standards set by the National Biodiversity Authority and the Meghalaya State Biodiversity Board) in 71 villages. These are undertaken in consultation with local community members that will significantly contribute to increased knowledge of local biological resources, their medicinal or any other commercial use. Additionally, NESFAS will also complete biodiversity assessments and undertake free listing of biodiversity in the communities.
