- Main Task and responsibilities:
- Sensitization of the public about the need for the People‘s Biodiversity Registers (PBRs)
- Attend the training on the identification and collection of data on biological resources and traditional knowledge
- Data collection and data entry
- Support in making the People‘s Biodiversity Registers (PBRs)
About the Project:
NESFAS in collaboration with The Nature Conservancy (TNC), USA is facilitating the Biodiversity Management Committees (BMCs) in upgrading the People‘s Biodiversity Registers (PBRs) (meeting all standards set by the National Biodiversity Authority and the Meghalaya State Biodiversity Board) in 23 villages. These are undertaken in consultation with local community members that will significantly contribute to increased knowledge on local biological resources, their medicinal or any other commercial use. Additionally, NESFAS will also complete biodiversity assessments and undertake free listing of biodiversity in the communities.
