The Indigenous Partnership (TIP) has embarked on a 28-month research project, supported by the Rockefeller Foundation, to enhance understanding and gather evidence on the outcomes and success factors of Indigenous Peoples’ Food Systems (IPFS). Through the FAO’s TAPE Methodology (2019), the initiative, titled “Demonstrating People and Landscape Thrive through Indigenous Peoples’ Food Systems,” conducted an extensive multi-site survey across North East India, Northern Thailand, Kenya, and Mexico. The project aims to fill critical evidence gaps concerning IPFS and their contributions to global discussions on sustainable food systems. The ultimate goal is to drive narrative change and inform policy actions that promote and enhance IPFS.

In this endeavor, NESFAS has taken the lead in conducting the study in North East India and is also responsible for preparing the overall report on the survey findings. TIP strongly advocates for the report to be authored and designed by Indigenous Peoples themselves, ensuring authenticity and accurate representation of their food systems. While partner organisations from the other three countries will actively contribute, NESFAS will bear the primary responsibility.

Upon completion, the survey findings will be presented on three significant platforms: regionally in Bangkok, Thailand, and Meghalaya, North East India, and globally at the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) of the United Nations in Rome. In these events, representatives from communities, policy makers, like minded partners, organisations and institutions will be present. These events will not only disseminate the report but also feature local and traditional cuisine and immersive experiences facilitated by a chef specialising in indigenous foods.

Building on the TAPE Assessment and the collection of 30 stories, TIP has also developed the IPFS Outcomes Framework Report. This report aims to highlight outcomes that Indigenous Peoples can leverage to achieve solutions balancing inclusion, equity, sustainability, and climate resilience. As TIP continues to promote a process of co-creation and cultivate a community of narratives and knowledge, NESFAS will take on the responsibility of editing and designing the report, ensuring it is both visually appealing and ready for widespread circulation.

In this regard, NESFAS is currently seeking skilled graphic designers and illustrators with a strong creative vision to design the IPFS Outcomes Framework Report. Candidates who integrate the rich, homegrown perspectives of the Meghalaya hills into their work are particularly encouraged to apply. This opportunity involves contributing to a significant project that emphasises originality, cultural heritage, and innovation. Your involvement will be instrumental in shaping a project that honors these core values and creates a lasting impact. Most importantly, the work will have a tangible impact, as it will help to inspire and engage a diverse, global audience.
