Khasi people from Nongtraw and NESFAS among recipients of the Prestigious Hallbars Sustainability Publication Award 2021

Hallbars, a Sustainability Research Organisation awarded the contribution of four individuals, organisations, and community from Meghalaya as part of the Best 2021 Sustainability Publication Award. The Indigenous Partnership (TIP), NESFAS, and the Khasi People of Nongtraw were among the 58 awardees for their contribution towards the award winning publication “Indigenous Peoples’ Food Systems: Insights on Sustainability and Resilience from the front line of climate Change.”

Where traditional practices meet modern science: Technical Workshop on Agroecology with local farmers

A Technical workshop on Agroecology for the Khasi, Jaintia and Garo Hills cluster took place on the 16th and 17th of September, 2021 via a virtual video meeting. The resource persons, Thomas Iangjuh (Junior Scientist, Bio Resource Development Centre, Shillong, Meghalaya) and Reccica Lyngkhoi (Microbiologist, Bio Resource Development Centre, Shillong, Meghalaya) helped facilitate this event and made it a success.

Farm on Wheels initiative receives local grassroots support in West Jaintia Hills

In a bid to repair the affected demand and supply chain of local produce due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, NESFAS, since last year has facilitated an initiative called Farm on Wheels (FOW) under the project, “No One Shall Be Left Behind.” The FOW initiatives have been started by members of various Participatory Guarantee System (PGS) groups from communities across Meghalaya.
