In many of the indigenous communities from Meghalaya and Nagaland, firewood continues to be the main source of fuel to power houses. Alternate fuels like charcoal, which are burnt in small metal stoves are seen as secondary to firewood while the use of natural gas and electricity is irregular in many homes owing to high expenses.

The training was held to equip community members with the necessary skill and knowledge of value addition and food processing that can help secure their income and livelihood in the future.
An exchange visit on school feeding programme was conducted on 2nd October 2021 at Mawmihthied village, East Khasi Hills. The programme was participated by MDM cooks, teachers, community facilitators and students from Dewlieh community and five communities from Garo Hills District.
